Dr Saran is a dedicated social work professional with a wealth of experience and academic achievements, holding both a Master's and a Doctorate in Social Work. Her primary interests lie in the prevention of family violence within communities and providing assistance to underprivileged communities. Throughout her career, Dr. Saran has excelled in various roles, showcasing expertise in academia, case management, counselling, and community development. She has played a pivotal role in establishing the counselling Department at Cambridge International College in Melbourne and contributed to the development of the CHCDFV001 unit at Victoria University. Passionate about community welfare, Dr. Saran founded a not-for-profit organisation Sikh Charity Club, demonstrating a strong commitment to philanthropy. Her involvement in the ACHRH's community participatory project "Sneh", on educating communities about prevention of family violence through community theatre, underscores her dedication to proactive social change. In addition to her work at University, Dr. Saran serves as a project manager for the Victorian Sikh Gurudwara Council (VSGC), where she is actively facilitating workshops on prevention of family violence across the whole of Victoria. Dr Saran specialises in designing and developing programs using intersectional and trauma informed approaches focusing on diverse needs of participants. She recently finished a mental health and wellbeing program for victim survivors of family violence for intouch Multicultural Organisation . Dr. Saran's extensive experience includes positions such as a child protection officer at Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Social Worker at the Department of Education and Early Childhood, Case Manager at the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Project Manager at World Health Organisation and Case Manager at Orange Door, providing assistance to victims of family violence in crises. With a remarkable career dedicated to social work and community development, Dr. Saran continues to make a significant impact in creating positive change and fostering a safer environment for individuals and families.
