Professional Bio
Kym Valentine has joined the Safe & Equal Communications Team in the roles of both Facilitator Advisor and Survivor Advocate. Kym is an advocate for Victim Survivors of Family Violence and worked with FARE (Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education), where she consulted on the relationship between alcohol and family violence and gave extensive input to reforms of the Liquor Control Reform Act. Kym joined FSV (Family Safety Victoria) in 2020 as a council member of VSAC (Victim Survivor’s Advisory Council) and was promoted to the position of chair in 2022 by the Minster for Prevention of Family Violence. Kym is an experienced public speaker, event MC and has over 40 years’ experience in performance including teaching acting at TAFTA (The Australian Film and Television Academy). Kym’s family violence expertise and acting skills put her in great stead to help us deliver workshops, advise on Family Violence reform, service design and expand awareness of family violence within the broader community.
