Dr. Amar Freya completed their PhD in 2022 in which they examined how the experiences of family violence in the Indian-Australian community were understood and how the victim-survivors sought formal and informal help through More Knowledgeable Others. Amar is a non-binary person of colour and has lived experience of family violence and mental ill health. Amar is passionate about highlighting the importance of understanding intersectionality and gender performativity and is committed to the prevention of gender-based violence through their research and advocacy.
